MINI Takes the States
On Aug18th - Sept 4th, 2006, thousands of MINIs Traveled together from coast to coast. They started in Monterey, CA and ended in Jersey City, NJ.
On Aug. 31, the 11th leg of the MTTS tour, went from Indianapolis, IN to Charleston, WV. Having been born in Charleston, and having a good friend who lives there who I could stay with, there was no doubt I had to join the MINIs for this part of the adventure. I participated in 1/2 of leg 11# and 1/2 of leg 12# ( from Charleston to Charlottesville). I chalked up 853 total miles in my MTTS jaunt.

On Thursday, I drove up to Lexington (where the MINIs were passing through) and then toward Charleston, to try to meet up with some MINIs. It rained almost the entire time and I saw no MINIs. By the time I got past Huntington, WV I had driven 5 1/2 hours and finally saw a MINI going my way. It was raining something terrible and the trip this day, 6 hours in the rain, was absolutely miserable. The event for the evening got rained out and when I got to Cato Park, where the MINIs should have been, there were none. Luckily I know Charleston, and it is not that big. I figured you can't hide 100s of MINIs very easily so I drove into town to find them. I found them at the Marriott Hotel downtown....
...
and so my real adventure begins...

Please note that this particular gallery is unlike most Web galleries that just share photos; it is actually intended to be a Journal of the event and
I have written annotations for the larger view each photo.
